Chimney Relining

In most cases, masonry chimneys are not designed to handle the venting requirements of modern high-efficiency heating appliances burning liquid propane, natural gas, oil, wood, pellet fuel, or coal.  Often times they can create potentially serious safety hazards  and they can also cause a number of costly structural and cosmetic problems for the homeowner.

If your chimney does not have a liner, or the liner it has now is cracked or deteriorated, it will need to be replaced.  Relining an existing chimney is the most practical and affordable way to repair a deteriorated or damaged chimney.

CLAY TILE LINERS VS. STAINLESS STEEL LINERS

In the past, most chimneys were lined with clay tiles, but as these liners commonly crack and present fire hazards.  Today’s chimneys are typically relined with stainless steel liners which are long-lasting and offer more efficiency and better draft.

WHAT SIZE LINER DO I NEED?

The new liner must be properly sized to your heating appliance, and must be made of the right material to ensure a long and safe lifetime.  When hooking to a solid fuel appliance, the liner is usually insulated with ceramic wool insulation.

WHY STAINLESS STEEL LINERS?

When properly installed, stainless steel liners draft better and are more efficient than flue tiles. Stainless steel liners come with a lifetime limited warranty; however, this warranty is void if the liner is not cleaned and inspected annually by a chimney technician.
